The X Subscription launched on October 12, bringing Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X benefits into one subscription. For developers who use several of those products, the bundle deserves a look. Anyone who mostly uses Claude or GPT in Cursor needs to check a different number: the cost of those models after switching.
What $30 buys
Premium costs $30 a month, before applicable taxes and fees. It includes cloud agents, automations and AI code reviews, alongside Grok and X features. The other tiers are Free at $0, Plus at $8, Super at $100 and Ultra at $200 per month. Premium, Super and Ultra advertise 4, 15 and 50 times the Plus usage allowance, respectively.
Paid plans have a shared weekly pool for eligible first-party usage across Grok and Cursor. Different activities consume different amounts. The published multipliers do not give you a fixed number of coding prompts, so compare them with the work you actually do.
Claude and GPT cost extra
Third-party models remain available in Cursor on Premium and above. They are charged at API list prices from the first use, paid through prepaid top-ups. They do not draw from the included weekly pool.
That is a material change for existing Cursor subscribers. Cursor’s Pro, Pro Plus and Ultra documentation describes separate monthly Cursor Models and Other Models pools. Those existing-plan allowances should not be confused with the new bundle. Included third-party usage continues until you switch.
Automatic top-ups are optional and switching does not enable them. A monthly additional-usage cap is a separate control worth checking before paid usage starts.
Before switching
Existing subscribers can keep their current plan. The launch announcement says switching is rolling out and gives no date for mandatory migration. A completed switch is permanent, and Support cannot undo it.
There is also an Apple billing catch. If you bought Cursor through the iPhone or iPad App Store, switching on the web does not cancel that subscription. Cancel it in Apple’s Settings to stop further billing; any refund must be requested from Apple.
The useful comparison is your current total against the new subscription plus expected third-party usage. A Grok-heavy workflow may benefit from the shared allowance. A Claude- or GPT-heavy workflow needs its own calculation before the lower-looking bundle price becomes a reason to move.
