The preparation window lets customers save their preferred configuration through Apple’s online store or the Apple Store app, according to reports published Monday by MacRumors and 9to5Mac. That includes the color, storage capacity and carrier choice, alongside payment preparations. [3][4]
Apple’s U.S. store lists Night Sky and Star White finishes. Prices start at $1,999 for 256GB, rising to $2,199 for 512GB, $2,599 for 1TB and $3,199 for 2TB. Carrier offers have separate eligibility conditions, so the advertised discount needs to be checked against the selected plan and trade-in. [1]
Checkout still happens on Friday
Customers who prepare a configuration must return when preorders open to complete their purchase. Apple describes the benefit as a faster checkout process; its public preparation page does not promise reserved stock or launch-day delivery. There is also a regional distinction. Apple’s mainland China store currently lists preorders for October 16 at 8 p.m. and sales from October 23, alongside a notice that models will go on sale after approval.
